Our Mission

The History Hub is a digital initiative of the History Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmignton (UNCW), supported in part by UNCW's Randall Library. The History Hub is a place for history faculty and students to create, organize, showcase and maintain open access to digital content that reflects UNCW's commitment to student engagement, creative inquiry, critical thinking, thoughtful expression, and responsible citizenship.

What We Do

The History Hub is a digital gathering space, showcasing undergraduate and graduate student historical projects with digital elements. Content may include but is not limited to digital exhibits of artifacts in context, geomapping, oral histories, and interactive timelines. The History Hub hosts the Object Project, a podcast about material culture and history.

Applied Learning in the Humanities

Support for the creation of The History Hub and the Object Project podcast were funded in part through an Applied Learning Pedagogy Initiative grant as part of UNCW's Experiencing Transformative Education through Applied Learning (ETEAL) and UNCW's Department of History.

Credit for the creation of the History Hub (2019) go to Assistant Professor of History Jennifer Le Zotte, English Department faculty member John Knox, Digital Initiatives Librarian Ashley Knox, Visiting Scholar and Artist Carly Korcurek, and Graduate Research Assistants and Project Contributors Darrien Bailey, Gracie Eakins, and Rachel Middaugh. Aspects of aesthetic content also created by UNCW students Lindsay Scott and Carter Brown.
